RAW (Reading as Writers) to focus on Papa
Reading as Writers is an ongoing series of classes in which we take great literature, read it deeply, and deconstruct what makes it great.
RAW is intended to be a class which helps writers find ways to understand great writing, and apply the lessons learned to our own writing.
But RAW discussions aren’t limited to writers, only. If you like great literature, want to learn to read more deeply, or simply like to discuss books with other literature lovers, this class is for you! (Why is deep reading important? I wrote about it here!)
Hemingway and Economy of Language
This round of RAW will focus on Ernest Hemingway.
THIS CLASS WILL BE HELD IN THE SECOND FLOOR CONFERENCE ROOM OF THE HUB BUILDING ON FRUITVILLE ROAD IN SARASOTA.
We will read two novels (The Sun Also Rises, and A Farewell to Arms) along with a few of his short stories.
You will need to have a copy of each novel (ideally one that you can mark in!), but I will provide copies of the short stories in class.
RAW Hemingway will meet on Tuesdays, from 2:00 to 3:30 PM, on the following dates:
- October 13, 20, 27
- November 3, 10, 17
This is a six-week class and the cost is $75.
A reading assignment will be made in The Sun Also Rises for the first class.
Details about the reading assignment, meeting space, and other information will be forwarded to participants.
You can sign up below via PayPal, or email me. Space will be limited to 10 participants. All registered participants will receive additional materials, a video introduction, and details about parking/attending classes hosted at the HuB campus.
