Have you ever had that feeling that your work is frozen in place? Like you can’t move forward, creatively?
This seems to happen, to me, when one of the following forms of resistance pops up:
- Self-doubt – I don’t think I can really pull this off, so I freeze up.
- Over-planning – I get lost in the planning and thinking about the work, but never get to doing the writing.
- Lack of Clarity – The story is started, but I’m not sure where it is going, and I don’t trust the process enough to just let go.
Maybe there are other ways YOU feel stuck.
I’ve heard a phrase several times, recently which sort of sums up the reality of this situation for me: Imperfect action is better than perfect planning.
There comes a point where the only way to get beyond the stuck phase is to just write. Good or bad, just write.
Today is a “just write” day for me.
I hope it is for you, too.
Thanks so much for being a reader of this blog and a part of my online community.
If you need some accountability for what you need to “just write” today, put a brief comment in the box below, and I’ll check back in with you, soon, to see how you are doing…
